My Addiction and Withdrawal Symptoms
I am a self-proclaimed net addict, and not having internet access really messes me up. I'm writing this from a internet cafe, and it sucks... but the feel of the keyboard relaxes the symptoms that i've had for the past 10 days. I now feel the familiar tingling on my fingertips... the feeling that i'm finally typing into cyberspace again... yes, i'm a net geek, and i love it !!!
One thing i've learnt in France is that u need to be patient for everything. When i applied for my broadband net in India, i thought 4 days for an Airtel connection was too bad... and i thought 1500 rupees a month was costly.
This prompted me to tell my mom that once day information will flow like water from a tap, thanks to some strange deeds of mine. (yeah, but then again, i also told my mom that someday India would have a national holiday in my name : like a "Swaroop Jayanthi")
Now i'm waiting 3 weeks for an internet connection, and realising that maybe 4 days was actually quite fast !
Hopefully someday, information WILL flow freely, like water from a tap... whether it is because of my actions or someone elses, who cares??

Well, I dunno if information will flow like water or not, but it sure is a much needed lesson in patience for someone like you!
I'm assuming that they are supposed to take less than 3 weeks. What interests me is, what do they tell you when you call and complain. Is it as frustrating as back in India? Do tell.

u'l be surprised to hear this... there is no question of calling the network. the process itself is such that u dont EVER call them.
1) apply for france telecom line (takes 3-5 days)
2) once that is done, apply for private network (net+phone+tv).. application, payment n verification is all online
3) they give u a login n pass to keep check on status
4) u login daily to see the same screen staring at u
5) finally the postman delivers ur modem with lots of papers, including ur IP address
in india, 1 person comes home to explain the deals within 4 hours of logging a new connec request. then another person will talk to u n try to soothe ur frayed nerves while u wait for the connection. a third will come home with the moden n install the system. a fourth will be available for maintenance at a later date.
here, the process is completely automated, as compared to india. n people wonder why jobs are tough to come by in europe !!
